Registered Express Mail

Introduction

This display of Registered Mail delivered by the Express Service is in answer to a Society Member wishing to form a census of such mail. (GBPS Newsletter 401 p 10)

The items scanned represent what I have acquired over a 15 year period, just 30 examples dated between 1901 and 1967. The majority are Inland with just two on overseas mail.
Each scan is named by the date/s of posting.

Early examples are difficult to find and the display lacks examples from the period of mid‑1920s to early 1930s.

It has been of interest to pick out a special group from a collection and it is hoped other such displays will follow.

One point to take into account is the presence of philatelic covers, such as first day covers – just one example is shown in the display.
