The Basic Letter Rate to Europe 1986-2010

Introduction

Between the years 1986 and 2010 the basic postage rate to Europe went through a number of twists and turns, often impacted by the United Kingdom's membership of the European Economic Community (EEC) or European Union (EU) as it later became.

This display seeks to illustrate the most significant of the changes, how they were manifested and affected the stamps we used.

It includes covers, stamp books, posters, handbills and newspaper cuttings, some of which have had to be reduced in size to fit.
